The 2026 Fall Ride took us to Marquette and Munising, Michigan. Twelve cars departed from Arbor Vitae, WI and traveled through the winding back roads of the woods of Northern Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan, arriving at the Hardwoods Steakhouse in Covington for lunch. After lunch, it was off to the Cliff Shaft Mining Museum in Marquette. Our guide took us down into the mine and shared the history of The UPs largest iron mine. Then it was off to our headquarters hotel followed by dinner at the Outback Steakhouse.
The next morning we caravanned to Munising for the Spring Falls boat tour at the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The day started out with sunshine but turned to a light rain shower toward the end of the tour that drove everyone off the upper deck to the cabin below. By the time we got back to the dock, the sun was starting to shine again. After lunch at the Dogpatch Salon , it was a drive cross country 60 miles to the Kitch-iti-kipi spring (also known as the Big Spring) in Palms Book State Park near Manistique. This is the largest spring in Michigan that flows at the rate of over 10,000 gallons per minute. After a visit to the gift shop and a serving of Ice Cream, it was back to Marquette. Dinner that evening was at Casa Cambria, where we enjoyed their Italian Cuisine.
Sunday was head for home to close out a great fall event.
