Susie & Steve Shanks hosted the Fall ride through the driftless area West Of Baraboo. The roads were exhilarating. Nine cars participated in the three day event originating in Tomahawk and winding up in Baraboo.
Lunch on Friday was at Shipwreck Bay, Mauston following a drive through the countryside west of Plainfield. Dinner that evening was at Rivers Edge Pub & Grub in Wisconsin Dells.
Saturday featured the ride through the driftless area west of Bariboo. These roads are the nes that Corvettes love with twists and turns and ups and downs. Some would liken this to a roller coaster. It was exciting working the cars a little! We ended up at Frank Lloyd Wright's home, Taliesen, near Spring Green where we enjoyed a private tour. Lunch was at Shifflet's Riverside Grille and then we traveled on to the J. Henry Distillery near Dane. Later we crossed the Wisconsin River on the Merrimac ferry and traveled along the South Shore of Devils Lake on the way back to our hotel. That evening we enjoyed dinner at the famous Del Bar in Wisconsin Dells.
Sunday included a visit to the Baraboo Candy Company (Home of the Moo Pie), the Mid-Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom and the Ski-Hi Apple Orchard near Baraboo. We wound up the tour at the Tumbled Rock Brewery & Kitchen in Baraboo. All in all it was a great ride through a part of Wisconsin that many had not enjoyed before.
